A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder

A conceptual project for the Advanced Costume Design Course at Baylor University

Debuting in 2012, A Gentleman’s Guide is a musical following the rise of a poor bachelor, Monty, to the Ninth Earl of Highhurst by murdering every cousin that stands between him and the earldom. For this rollicking, macabre period piece, I wanted two main things: to demonstrate Monty’s character development through color, and to complement the dark humor by using as little black as possible.
